Wedding Shower Extravaganza

Question:What do you do when your daughter is having a destination wedding?
Answer: Have an amazing Bridal Shower/Reception in her honor!
Even better? Have fabulous myKakes as the centerpiece!

The mother of the bride asked me to make the cupcakes for her daughter's bridal shower and I happily obliged. As we were brainstorming, we decided on a cupcake/floral centerpiece.
I was eager to create this as I love floral arranging almost as much as I love baking cupcakes!
Flowers were provided by a local florist, Pat's European Fresh Flowers, and I had a blast putting the arrangements together.
Cupcakes were classic vanilla, mocha, and lemon raspberry.
It was ultimately a knock out of the park!

Congratulations, Tom and Susan!

It was a lovely Summer Day in September for a Wedding!
The locale was the Felt Mansion in Saugatuck.... a beautiful venue for the glowing bride and her wedding party!
Thank you, Tom and Susan, for letting myKakes be a part of your memorable day!

Some other links that I thought you might enjoy.... The catering was provided by Chris Ferris; a spectacular chef in West Michigan!

Happy 50th Michelle!

HAPPY 50th Birthday, Michelle!

I have been a busy little baker so far this summer, but I just wanted to take a quick minute out of my day to post this photo.

Michelle shares her birthday with the 50th anniversary of the Barbie Doll, so she had the Mattell creation as her theme and everything decked out in pink, white and black, including the cupcakes!

All the guests were asked to bring a Barbie which would then be donated to Santa Claus Girls.  41 dolls were collected for this wonderful organization!   Check out the following link to hear about this wonderful organization based in Kent County.

Hope the party was fabulous!

The Graduation Season Begins.....

This weekend, I was busy baking cupcakes for birthday parties, baby showers, and the beginning of open houses!

This particular open house was dear to my heart as Grand Rapids Christian High is my alma mater and I attended Hope College. I had so much fun with this one, especially coordinating the school colors with the cupcakes!

Congratulations, Austin!  Best of luck at Hope this fall!

I do have to apologize for the poor quality of the photos.... I am not a photographer by any means, and I took these with my camera on my phone!

April Showers bring......Cupcake orders! Thank you!

Whew! It has been a gorgeous weekend here in West Michigan, and I have been a cupcake baking machine! While I did not have time to take many photos of this weekends endeavors, I did manage to take one shot of the sweet cupcakes I created for a precious little girl.

Evie's mom asked for Vanilla with lavender tinted Vanilla Butter Cream. I hope the birthday girl enjoys them! I know I had a great time making them! Happy Birthday, Evie! Enjoy your special day!

I also would like to thank the Holland Junior Welfare League for letting myKakes be a part of their Bitter Sweet event at the Holland Area Arts Council! I hope the night was a success, and everyone got their fill of all things sweet while supporting a wonderful organization in our community!

New Photos!

I consider myself a good cook and pretty talented at baking, but I am no photgrapher! My good friend, Alison, is a local photographer here in Holland, and I was lucky enough to have her shoot some great photos of my cupcakes for my website!
Here is just a sampling of the great work that she does!

Be sure to check out her new website and blog!

Thank you, Alison! They are amazing!

Happy Valentines Day!

I just finished making these sweet little mini myKakes for a precious little girl's preschool class. Her mom chose vanilla cupcakes with vanilla butter cream tinted pink, and then topped with a tiny fondant heart brushed with edible glitter....perfect for a little princess and her classmates!

Miller Baby Shower

A few photos from a recent order I had for another Baby Shower! They picked some great flavors including chocolate cupcakes with chocolate butter cream and S'mores.

I also loved doing the green and yellow fondant flowers to match their theme!

New Baby!

I just finished baking some sweet little cupcakes to welcome a new baby to our world. My client asked for baby blue fondant flowers in honor of the new little one, Bjorn Christian, plus some pink ones for his older sister. These were so fun to do for such a special occasion!

A Garden Tea Wedding Shower

I recently made cupcakes for a Wedding Shower that was a Backyard Garden Tea. It was a lovely setting for a shower!
I set up my cupcakes with a mini floral arrangement in a teapot to fit the theme. It was simply beautiful! Everyone loved them and especially the cute little fondant and royal icing flowers!
